As a certified member of  1% for the Planet, Drake Darcy | Horton International – UK commit to donating 1% of our total revenues to environmental causes.

We asked the team, Chris Drake,  Ciara Drake, Gurbir Kaur and Matt Venning which Impact areas they were most passionate about and we identified the following:

·      Toxic & Pollutants
·      Sustainable Livelihoods
·      Food Systems
·      Responsible Consumption
·      Renewable Energy

On the back of this we identified local charities who are making an impact in these areas and donated to the following organisations in 2024:

· 1% for the Planet
1% for the Planet is a global network of businesses and environmental organisations that commit to donating at least 1% of annual sales to support people and the planet.

· Trees for Cities
Trees for Cities dedicated volunteers have planted over 1,100,000 trees in cities up and down the UK, and around the globe. They were set up to plant more trees in cities, because of the huge impact they have on our mental and physical health, and that of our environment. They help to clean and cool our air, sequester carbon emissions, and are proven to increase our well-being and reduce stress levels.

· The Lotus Flower
The Lotus Flower supports women and girls to build sustainable futures beyond conflict and displacement.
It was founded in 2016 by former child genocide survivor Taban Shoresh OBE, and has impacted over 84,000 lives to date. Their mission is to help vulnerable women and girls to heal, learn and grow.

· The Bike Project
The Bike Project is a charity that collects second-hand bikes, refurbishes them and donates them to refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK.
Whilst awaiting asylum decisions, some refugees survive on as little as £8.86 per week and 84% have been forced to choose between accessing transport and basic needs like food, healthcare and legal advice.

· The Childhood Trust
The Childhood Trust is London’s child poverty charity, dedicated to alleviating the impact of poverty on children and young people living in the capital. Children growing up in poverty face multiple challenges such as food insecurity, poor housing, fuel poverty and pollution which can limit children’s development and degrade their potential, leading to poor health and life chances. Their work is focused on supporting the 700,000 plus children living in poverty in London.

· Centre for Sustainable Energy
The Centre for Sustainable Energy’s (CSE) vision is a world where sustainability is second nature, carbon emissions have been cut to safe levels and fuel poverty has been replaced by energy justice. CSE shares their knowledge and practical experience to empower people to change the way they think and act about energy.
